Oyasumi Ramen for Cheesy Truffle Risotto that you get for a steal

You don't normally order risotto at Ramen places, but Oyasumi Ramen is a place that you visit exactly for that. The concept of this hole in the wall place is that you can ask them to convert any extra broth you have from the ramen you order into a cheesy risotto dish for an extra Php60 only. Now, this assumes you actually finished your ramen, and have extra broth, and stomach space to do this.

There is a work around. When you place your ramen order, you can just ask them to take some broth from it and make you a cheesy risotto and serve it at the same time. If you're not really hungry, it's a good idea to share this with someone (just order extra egg) because the servings are quite generous.

They have the usual ramen varieties, Truffle Ramen included, which we ordered, and I must say, this flavor works really well as a cheesy risotto.

A Trufle Ramen order which is around Php470 comes with one egg, greens,
and three pork chashu slices. Everything is good except the ramen noodles.
Tastes like some sort of spaghetti meets ramen noodle that I don't really like,
but I will tolerate for the risotto by-product. Hahaha.

Just order an extra egg and it's really perfect for sharing.
Sof doesn't like Ramen - so it's a good thing they have a Pork Chashu Rice
bowl that comes with the same medium boiled egg. In addition to three slices
of pork, the rice is also generously topped with Pork Chashu pieces.

Sofia loved it, and enjoyed mixing in the egg into the
middle of her rice bowl.

To be honest, I really enjoyed the Cheesy Risotto that also came with a
generous amount of pork chashu pieces.
I enjoyed it so much more than the ramen.

I tried a bite of the Black Truffle Broth Cheesy Risotto, but the truffle flavor works so much better. Though I am pretty curious to see how the spicy ramen broth will come out.

Now, if only I can figure out how to get someone to donate ramen broth to me next time, so I won't even need to eat the ramen, and I can just enjoy the Ramen Broth Cheesy Risotto with an extra side order of Pork Chashu without having to eat the really horrible ramen noodles. hahaha, just saying.

Omotesando Koffee Hong Kong

Ever since Sofia was a baby, her favorite place to visit in Hong Kong was the Toy Alley (Tai Yuen Street) in WanChai. She hasn't outgrown that yet, so on our one free day in Hong Kong, Wanchai had to be part of the plan. Good thing, we were with foodie Auntie Pami... who insisted that we visit Omotesando Koffee as well.

Auntie Pami not only showed us where to get good
coffee, she added to Sofia's shopping money too so she
could buy all the Nerf Guns and Ammo she wanted.

Omotesando Koffee is located in a newly developed area of Wanchai called Lee Tung Avenue.
It looked so posh, nothing like the Wanchai area of the
past as Wanchai has been known for it's local markets
where you look for cheap stuff.
You need to go further in to fins Omotesando Koffee.
The Japanese do understated interiors very well. But the place is small so
we grabbed the bench outside and just ordered our Koffee to go.
Pami recommended the double iced cappuccino and
it did not disappoint.
You need to order the baked custard cubes as well, which
they are very famous for.
I think it was very unfortunate that I was so full from
eating all day, I could only manage to eat a bite.
Hello Fi and Family :) Timmy and Reen also included.
Hahaha. Let me know if you spot them.

The coffee is top notch, and with a very precise Japanese Barista at the helm, this does not come as a surprise, and the baked custard is excellent with the slightly burned sugar taste and chewy consistency. Omotesando Koffee is definitely a must visit haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the old Wanchai. just saying.

Brick Burger for Lego Inspired Meaty Burger Goodness

Late last year, my friend told me about a Lego themed burger restaurant quite near where we lived. Good thing she did, because despite how often we passed the area, we never thought that Brick Burger pertained to Lego bricks. Hahaha.

As soon as we heard about them, Sof and I couldn't wait to try it out on one of our Saturdates.

We totally loved the Lego buildings as they were clearly localized.
Someone doesn't want to be made into inihaw na liempo (grilled pork).

It wasn't until our next visit when I was showing my siblings the escaping pig that we realized that they actually played with the Lego and they change things up a bit, other displays in the restaurant included. What a cool job for their version of the window dresser.

They have a counter, but you don't really need to order your food here.
It's more of a display. There is table service.

I enjoyed the food, Sofia didn't.
Sof had a regular burger with all the fixins on the side,
but she found the taste too beefy.

I ordered the Darth Vadar Burger (with extra patty).
I loved how beefy it was. Hahaha.

The Darth Vadar burger is a bit on the sweet side though as it has
caramelized onions and BBQ sauce so best to split with someone.

Oh... and it has bacon and mushrooms too! Absolutely yummy.

Good thing they do fries well. The thick kind. This is what Sofia ate.

We came during the soft opening. No credit cards, just cash, but
everything was good.

I told the siblings about it, so we went back a few weeks after we first tried it.
Ady decoded the menu! We assumed that the Lego bricks beside the price
will tell you what color the Lego bread is for your order.

Then we both ordered the Hulk Burger, which is pretty
much a double deck burger with mushroom, bacon and
cheese sauce... and it came with different colored bread
because they ran out. Hahaha.

Still good, but I really prefer the Darth Vadar so best to order both and share.

Uhm, shobs... why are you forking Reena's nose? Hahaha

Garlic Parmesan Wings... also good. Hahaha.
I could live without Onion Rings though. But I'm just not a fan.
This was a family meeting... with legal consultation included.

As you can see, two visits in the space of a few weeks. This place is definitely worth visiting if you find yourself in the Pasig area. Now, it would only be better if they had some bricks in a corner that the kids could play with as well... just saying.

Legoland Brick or Treat 2016 and Legoland Waterpark Revisited

Last year, Sof asked for a trip to Singapore and Legoland for her 9th Birthday. Since she doesn't ask for much, I agreed, but I convinced her to stay in Legoland Hotel another time since the rates were expensive for the weekend that we planned to visit.

Thanks to strategic partner rate I get through our company, we visit Legoland quite often.

Sof. You didn't follow the dress code.

Even the post and the photo bomber did.

We were quite sad when we thought the Build a Raft was
under maintenance. Good thing, the sign was wrong.

Build a Raft is my favorite ride attraction in Legoland Waterpark. All you need to do is grab a raft, and go with the flow. Though there seems to be a shortage of rafts even if there aren't many people. They have also removed the doubles. Perhaps they do need to close it to maintain it to it's former glory.

Sof loves swimming here because she is tall enough to stand if she gets tired.

My other favorite attraction, is the one where you ride a big round raft down the slide.
We normally do this several times.
Normally there is no line, but for the times when we need to wait for our turn, Sof does the slide first (which also departs from the same platform).

It's best to come with an adult who loves playing in the water if that's not really your thing.

Thank you Tita Jackie and Ninong Tim.

Sof loved it so much, she stayed until the park closed at
6PM.

Since water play can really work up an appetite, we had a quick dinner at Old Town Coffee before heading to the Main Park since they were closing late for the Halloween Event. If you plan to go this year, let me just tell you that it's a bad idea to take your time.

Resting...

Eating...
Off to Brick or Treat...

Now, this is the part that no one tells you. The park closes late for Halloween activities, but if you want to participate in Brick or Treat, you need to get a flyer from the entrance (or customer service desk at the entrance) in order for your child to participate. They stop giving this stupid flyer out after a certain time, but no one tells you about it.

It's actually not the whole part that closes late, but only the area (Kingdom Area) where the Brick or Treat Event is held. We rushed all the way there to realize (through my sister's eavesdropping while we were in the long line), that you needed a certain flyer that they were no longer giving out.

I was in panic mode. I promised my daughter that we didn't need to stay at the hotel because she could do Brick or Treat instead, so I had to find a way to get hold of one of the flyers. My brilliant idea was to approach strangers who looked like they finished the activity, to ask if they had extra flyers, Jackie spotted a mom who looked like she had a lot of kids, and she was nice enough to look for the extra one she had when I asked her. Whew!

For the first stop, they give you a stack of Lego bricks, then for the succeeding stops, they ask for a certain color brick in exchange of the treat. If you come late, some stops are already closed.

So Jackie and I played our favorite Prize in Every Try to get Sof more treats.
Hooray for winning 2 elephants for Sof.

I'm just so glad she loved her birthday trip.
This is the very important flyer, for info. If you arrive early, I'm sure, they
were very free in giving it away.
These were my daughter's treats. Mostly sponsored, so it was more for the
experience.

There was also a zombie parade which Sof got to watch, but I was busy shopping in the store before it closed.
Sof even got her Ninong to buy her Minecraft Lego for
her birthday.

Thank you Lego, it was great as always.

Sof was sound asleep in minutes after riding the car.

And before you know it, we are heading back this weekend. See you soon Legoland. This time Sofia is claiming the Hotel stay I promised her, but some how she convinced us to get annual passes again. So we will definitely be back again and again and again and again. just saying.
