Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo

After a grueling week(s) at work, my team found ourselves in the hills of Antipolo yesterday afternoon, so we decided to make an adventure out of it. We had time to kill after work before we went to dinner so we stopped by Pinto Art Museum. Pinto means door in Filipino, so the place should be pronounced with an abrupt end to the o, but we didn't realize this at first, so we kept calling the place PinToe, like the horse. 

We arrived very close to sunset, and the Museum was only open until 6:00pm, so we had less than an hour to take everything in and we probably did not do the place enough justice, but we still had fun nonetheless.

Pinto Art Museum is in the heart of Antipolo
Town Proper.

But when you enter these doors, you'll feel like you're a
world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

You'll see a large garden upon entering.

and a Museum Shop where you pay a token amount
(P150) to enter.

In the middle of the garden is the small chapel.

We wanted to just sit and enjoy, so all our stress could melt away, but the well meaning artists and guides in the place were urging us along because there was much to see before sunset.

They have a huge rocking horse that you can
actually ride.

There was so much green, with art mixed in with nature.

and on the right side of the property is private weekend home of
Dr. Joven Cuanang.

We had a guide who took us around the whole property.

Antipolo is named after the Tipolo (Btreadfruit) Tree.

Under the big Tipolo Tree they had this fertility
sculpture.

If you look closely, there's a baby in her womb.

All around the gardens are works of different artists.

There was a roof top that looked like a nice place to hang-out.

We had to hurry because it was almost sunset.

We entered the covered part of the property.

The museum has paintings and natural rocks.

This mural was done by 16 artists.

The artwork on display is the owner's personal collection.

There is also a Cafe at the museum.

It's run by Bizu but they close at 5:30pm so we had to
beg them to serve us Iced Tea when after our quick tour.

Parang day-off lang.

Behind the garden is another covered area with more works.

After our quick tour, we headed to the roof top
we saw when we just arrived.

The over-all look and feel of this place reminds me of Geoffrey Bawa's garden in Bentota, Sri Lanka, but that is in the province, 2 hours away from Colombo.
