I love brunch and hipster coffee shops, but not enough to go out of my way to visit one. I normally look our for places close to where we are staying or planning to go, since we normally travel on long weekends, it's important for us to keep our itinerary efficient.
In Hong Kong, we tried N1 Coffee & Co in Tsim Sha Tsui for brunch and we were very happy with the experience. Brunch places normally don't open early (don't ask me why), so we planned to arrive before 10am, which was a good thing, because the place, which only has a few small tables, quickly got crowded after that.
We realized that while all the places in Tsim Sha Tsui are normally only 15 minutes walk from each other, but once you start walking every where, you start getting dead on your feet before the day is over, so we just started taking cabs for anything that was more than a 5-10 minute walk away. So we cabbed to brunch and we arrived nice and fresh.
N1 is run by Barista Academy so their coffee was good, ambiance was the perfect hipster vibe, and when we entered, the smell of bacon cooking was in the air so our order was a no-brainier.
Where else can you eat under a horse carousel, and on a sewing machine table at the same time too. |
The coffee was good and so was the food.
The full English breakfast wasn't as filling as normal, if you don't eat the bread since it's not served with a hash brown, and we asked them to hold the beans. |
Reena had a sandwich which I thought looked sad compared to ours. Hahaha. |
So if you're in the neighborhood, keep N1 in mind for brunch, just remember to arrive early. Their opening hours on google say they open at 10am, but half the coffee shop was full when we arrived a few minutes before 10am, so google isn't always right. just saying.
