Yum Cha Hong Kong for the most Kawaii Dimsum that's (mostly) good to eat too

One of the places we discovered when we were in Hong Kong was Yum Cha. It was recommended by the nice person we met from Park Hotel, where we went to check out the possibility of holding Timmy and Reena's wedding reception.

Yum Cha is just a few minutes away from Park Hotel on foot and once we saw how cute the dimsum was, we knew we wanted to try it.

In true Hong Kong fashion, the restaurant is on the third floor of this hip building, and once you get off the lift, you can watch them make dimsum through the window.

The restaurant is quite pricey because you are expected to pay a cover charge
of HK$15 per person, and you can get your choice of tea for free.
Even their bowl is so cute, with the little fish and twisted spoon.
We arrived around noon and it was easy to get a table, but it was very busy
when we left, so people normally eat here for a late lunch.

We ordered an assortment of cute dimsum and what sounded to be yummy food. On average, each dish is around HK$50-60 which is on the high side for dimsum in Hong Kong (If you eat in the places we eat! Hahaha).
The radish cake was good, but we over-ordered so we didn't get to finish it.
My favorite dish was the chili pork dumplings. Yummy!
I also liked the vegetable truffle dumplings, but I don't think Ady and Reena
liked it because it was to veggie for them.
We loved the cute dimsum, but they looked better than they taste.
Mainly because the bread was on the tough side.
BBQ Pork Buns
Sausage Buns
Salted Egg Custard Buns

We ate so much we felt like the three little pigs.
That was despite not eating the bread. Hahaha.
This is my cute dimsum graveyard.
Here is a sample of our bill so you don't get bill shock.

We ordered dessert afterwards because we saw the bird cage on another table just as we were about to leave. It's a good thing they allowed us to order again, without any cover charge even after we settled our bill.

The birds which we saw them make are freshly baked Pineapple Tarts.
So pretty... and So yummy too!!!
Birds waiting to be ordered...
Matcha Alien Buns

I'm sure we will come back when we come to Hong Kong for Timmy's wedding but next time we are probably better off sticking with the real food, and the salted egg custard bun, and the Pineapple Tarts too of course. just saying.

Last hurrah for our holiday at resort town in Mati, Greece

When I planned our summer holiday to Turkey and Greece last year, we needed to spend a last night in Athens, to catch our flight home, after our wonderful Greek Island getaway to Hydra, which you can read about here, so we decided to stay in Mati instead, a resort destination within the same distance to the airport where we could enjoy another part of Greece.

For a place which is less than 30 minutes drive away from Athens, Mati was remarkably quiet with a chill resort town vibe. We found good rates at Aquis Aquamarina Hotel and we were quite happy with our accommodations.

Our room had a big balcony with a lovely view of the sea.

The room was big and comfortable, even if it looked a little bit dated.
In a country with an abundance of olives, it's a given that they make
Olive Oil into toiletries too.

We enjoyed a hearty late lunch, availing of buffet at the hotel restaurant.
Those are huge chunks of feta... not tofu! (only in Greece right?!)

They had a lot of main courses too...
Souvlaki grilled on the spot. Yummmy...

Fresh Fruit for Dessert
and Ice Cream too...

I definitely enjoyed the multiple servings I had...
Oh, and did I mention it comes with free flowing
house wine? Best way to end the holiday.

Spent the afternoon relaxing by the pool, then enjoyed the view and sunset from our balcony.

Like every resort town, there are a lot of restaurant options nearby, so we chose one with seafood options, but I'm happy enough with fried calamari if you ask me.

We couldn't get enough of our usual faves.
Feta with salad on the side. Hahaha.
Start the first meal with fried saganaki.
End the last meal with fried saganaki too! Best when drizzled with lemon.
Seafood by the Seaside
Capping the meal off (and the trip with a serving of two of Scandal).
Proud to say we own this brand.
Thanks for a great last night, Mati!
and that wraps up our Summer Holiday... last year!
Off to the airport to start our long journey back home.

Keep this place in mind if you need a short getaway from life in Athens. just saying.
