I discovered La Maison du Chocolat's Macarons by accident. When Ady and I were shopping at La Vallee Village, one of the event's at the Art Gallery was a Chocolate Exhibit run by La Maison du Chocolat.
Entrance was free, and they were offering free Hot Chocolate as part of our VIP coupons (but anyone can enter and have free hot chocolate), so of course, I dragged Ady to claim it. |
They just have pictures of how chocolate is made around the gallery. |
My favorite part is after you're given hot chocolate (which is nice, hot and rich), they also give you a coupon for a macaron to be claimed at their store. |
There's a La Maison du Chocolat store within La Vallee Village so you don't need to go far. |
It's a good move because it gets you in the store to claim the macaron, so there's a chance you'll buy something as well. Though admittedly we didn't since we still had our Pralus chocolates. |
You can choose which macaron you want to try for free. The shells come in different flavors, but everything is filled with chocolate ganache that complements the flavor. |
I chose Maracuja, which is a Passion Fruit macaron filled with dark chocolate ganache. It was so yummy. |
Since Ady claimed not to be fond of macarons, I chose the Salvador one for her. A Raspberry macaron shell also filled with dark chocolate ganache. |
As you can see, their shells are perfectly made, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with the chocolate ganache filling a generous serving for each macaron. Clearly, a great macaron option, especially if you love dark chocolate, like I do.
For me, the La Maison du Chocolat's Ganache Macarons can give Pierre Herme a run for his money. I would even be willing to pay for them next time. Hahaha. just saying.
Bonne Jour de Macaron! If you're in Paris, just pass by Pierre Herme (who started this event 10 years ago) or any Relais Desserts branch (http://relais-desserts.net) so you can donate and get a macaron. All the proceeds go to Vaincre la mucoviscidose, a charity that helps those afflicted with cystic fibrosis.

In Manila, TWG is also celebrating World Macaron Day. You can avail of their tea-infused macarons for only Php30 (normally php55). This will benefit macaron lovers in Manila, but there was no mention of any donations for charity.
