Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo

After a grueling week(s) at work, my team found ourselves in the hills of Antipolo yesterday afternoon, so we decided to make an adventure out of it. We had time to kill after work before we went to dinner so we stopped by Pinto Art Museum. Pinto means door in Filipino, so the place should be pronounced with an abrupt end to the o, but we didn't realize this at first, so we kept calling the place PinToe, like the horse.

We arrived very close to sunset, and the Museum was only open until 6:00pm, so we had less than an hour to take everything in and we probably did not do the place enough justice, but we still had fun nonetheless.

Pinto Art Museum is in the heart of Antipolo
Town Proper.
But when you enter these doors, you'll feel like you're a
world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
You'll see a large garden upon entering.
and a Museum Shop where you pay a token amount
(P150) to enter.
In the middle of the garden is the small chapel.
an Artistic rendition of Christ
Religious Artifacts

We wanted to just sit and enjoy, so all our stress could melt away, but the well meaning artists and guides in the place were urging us along because there was much to see before sunset.
They have a huge rocking horse that you can
actually ride.
There was so much green, with art mixed in with nature.
Fountains, statues...
and on the right side of the property is private weekend home of
Dr. Joven Cuanang.

We had a guide who took us around the whole property.
Antipolo is named after the Tipolo (Btreadfruit) Tree.
Under the big Tipolo Tree they had this fertility
sculpture.
If you look closely, there's a baby in her womb.
All around the gardens are works of different artists.
Person covered in snails.
Cow
Guy meditating over the pond.
But the frog is real.
Hula hoops!
There was a roof top that looked like a nice place to hang-out.
We had to hurry because it was almost sunset.

We entered the covered part of the property.
Dr. Cuanang's dedication about the young artists.
This is us creatively fitting in.
The museum has paintings and natural rocks.
This mural was done by 16 artists.
The artwork on display is the owner's personal collection.
A typical sight in the Philippines (and in India).
The gambling version of The Last Supper.
This reminds me of Lego.
No insult meant. I meant this piece from the Art of Brick exhibit.
You can read about it here.
There is also a Cafe at the museum.
It's run by Bizu but they close at 5:30pm so we had to
beg them to serve us Iced Tea when after our quick tour.
Parang day-off lang.
Behind the garden is another covered area with more works.
From the same artist as the cow.
Beware of us!
Peach taking Noel's picture pushing the Church in the kariton.
The twists and turns leads to this window,
with a really nice view of the Courtyard.
Mediterranean inspired.
Our guide took us around the courtyard to see the
interactive displays.
Explaining the different paintings in the Eros Room.
Necrophilia and the Kama Sutra
Usapang Babae (Girl Talk)
No, that painting didn't fall.
It's crocodile skin, that became the cover of a shoe box.
Holy Cow! The leather bag version.
This painting is inverted.
If you use a photo editing app to invert it, this is what you get.
There is also a RainForest Room.
Cool bordering on Creepy. Hahaha.
But then I have an active imagination.
Making faces
Paper Couch
After our quick tour, we headed to the roof top
we saw when we just arrived.
Really nice view of the sunset.
Shot in vivid with the Canon S95.

The cafe was deserted when we got back,
but the waiter went to get our iced tea.
The menu of Siraulo sa Pinto,
for future reference.
Silhoutte lang. Because being artsy rubbed off on us.
Sunsets are love.

The over-all look and feel of this place reminds me of Geoffrey Bawa's garden in Bentota, Sri Lanka, but that is in the province, 2 hours away from Colombo. You can read all about Lunuganga here. For a place that's quite close to Metro Manila, Pinto Art Museum is really worth visiting. just saying.
