Before we left for Europe, the most detailed research I did for our trip was on the restaurants I wanted to try in Paris. This is because I lived in Paris and have visited so often in the last few years that I wanted to make sure I still tried something new.
On previous trips, we normally ate at my favorite places from when I lived in Paris, or we'd just find a place wherever and whenever hunger caught us. This time around, we really had nothing on the agenda but to eat so I made sure we ate well. You can read about our Paris trip here.
Our first meal on this trip was at Breizh Cafe in the Marais (3rd Arrondissement Left Bank Area).

For the Paris branch, reservations are recommended. Walk-ins are directed to the Deli which shares the same menu. |
They had a handwritten card with their off-menu specials. Of course, we had to try some of them. |
While waiting for our order to be served we looked around the deli.

The lady makes the buckwheat crepes on the spot, but it's the kitchen at the cafe that puts them together. |
We all ordered coffee because they will only serve you tap water if you order at least one drink per person. |
The Campagnarde has cheese, mushrooms, potatoes, creme fraiche, and smoked duck breast. |
It's honestly the best galette I have ever eaten! I felt I won the crepes lottery. Hahaha. |
Lysch ordered Montagnarde with bacon, cheese, eggs and creme fraiche and while it was good, it was a bit ordinary. |
Tim ordered the Complete Chorizo with eggs and cheese, which was also on the ordinary side. It also wasn't filling enough for him. |
Diana was the other lottery winner, she also ordered from the specials menu. Her crepe had asparagus, chorizo bits, egg and cheese. |
We ordered a Beurre et Sucre (butter and sugar) crepe to share for dessert. |
The lady convinced us to try the Vanille Beurre et Sucre which is made using Vanilla Butter instead, and while it was more fragrant, I didn't really taste a remarkable difference. |
She even let us smell the Vanilla butter they use before we ordered to convince us. |
It might just be me, but when it comes to Beurre et Sucre Crepes,I prefer the ones you buy from the street vendors, with the butter and sugar paste dripping down your chin with every bite! Yummy! |
If you're curious about the price range. This was our bill. Everyone gets a free caramel. I was told they're like sugar bombs! |
Overall, I am glad we tried this place. I really loved the Campagnarde. This place will definitely be on my must eat list the next time I'm go back to Paris. just saying.
