Katz's Deli for the Best Pastrami on Rye in New York

We found Katz's Delicatessen on a lot of Things To Do in New York Lists, but aside from that, they are also known from the scene in "When Harry Met Sally" where a lady wanted to have what Meg Ryan was having because she was faking an orgasm from the Pastrami sandwich goodness. (Note to Self: I must watch When Harry Met Sally)

Katz's Deli
When you enter, you'll be given a paper ticket which you will give to the counter when you order.
It's quite busy, but there are a lot of guys making sandwiches so the
wait is not long.
Before they make your sandwich, they give you
a slice of the pastrami to try.
We asked for Pastrami on Rye, easy on the mustard.
They weigh the sandwiches to make sure all are
equally overflowing.
This is what the Pastrami sandwich looks like.
It's served with a side order of pickles.
It's really to die for. But to induce an orgasm?
It probably depends on how hungry you are. hahaha.

They also have really good French Fries that you order
at a different counter.
Sofia ate a lot of the Pastrami and fries.
Foodies unite.
Pastrami heaven.
Only one branch in Israel and New York.
I hear they used to have a sign that said:
"Where Harry met Sally...hope you have what she had!" but I didn't see it.
It's a busy place.
Sofia was most impressed that Mickey Mouse ate here.
One the way out, you line up with your ticket to pay.
Cash Only with ATMs in the restaurant.
Just for perspective, two sandwiches are more than enough for three (and a kid) to share. We still brought home half a sandwich and we were fairly hungry. Our bill for two sandwiches, a drink and french fries was more than US$40 (Php1,700) which may be quite expensive for a normal sandwich, but it's reasonable for the Best Pastrami Sandwich on Rye.

You can also buy Pastrami to Freeze, or they ship all over the US.
This definitely stays on our MUST EAT LIST
they next time we're back in New York. just saying.
