Home Sweet Home: Singapore

I did not realize how much we missed our Singapore home until we got back. Spending close to a month in Manila was great, but it came with a whirlwind of commitments, for meals, parties and catching up with friends, then add in running errands and shopping, plus managing work at the same time, it was just simply chaotic, especially for the last week and a half. I thought Bohol was my holiday from my holiday, but with the stress of missing our flight, securing new tickets and making sure we did not get left again, it was not really as relaxing as it was supposed to be. No need to bring up who's fault that was!

There is just a different sense of peace and quiet that you only have in your own home. The best homecomings are when you come back after being away for a long time. It's even better if your nanny arrives ahead of you to clean up any mess you've left behind and to air the place out. All you want to do is hang around, enjoy doing nothing without being bored.

Even Sofia refused to leave our house. She was so happy to see all her toys, she couldn't decide which one she wanted to play with next.

We love, love, love our balcony

My daughter is really like a fish. On our first day back, she's at it again!

I love the reflection of the trees on the pool

The grounds of our condo is already decorated for Chinese New Year. When we left, it was decorated for Christmas.

It makes me feel quite sentimental, knowing that we will be leaving this home that we love soon. I promise to make the most our of every single day that we have left in this home, even if only to use our balcony and the pool more often.

This time is like the calm before the storm, as we have guests (all family) arriving this weekend, so the Urbana Condotel (as one of Sofia's friends refer to our home) is at more than 100% occupancy. Looking at the bright side, this means that we get to do all the touristy things with them and eat in all our favorite we-must-eat-here-when-we're-in-Singapore restaurants. This has been a continuously growing list as we keep discovering new places.

We've always tried to live like tourists in Singapore. We attempt to do something new, or something that we only do in Singapore during the weekends that we're here. After living here for two years, it sort of got boring. We even started baking at home, even baking from scratch, to entertain ourselves on rainy weekends. Now, the thought of doing touristy stuff excites us again. We will really try to make the most of our remaining time here and try not to take the simple things we love for granted.

This is my favorite picture of the Singapore skyline where you can see the Fullerton Hotel, Marina Bay and the buildings nearby.

If this were a book, then this post would be my introduction, to everything that's good and great in Singapore, for tourists, from the point of view of a local who is on a journey of discovering some of this country's secrets :) I hope we get to discover and re-discover more before we leave!
