When we were in London, I tried to fill our weekends with activities Sofia enjoyed because I was busy working during the week. On our first weekend there, the weather forecast was rain with a possibility of hail but it turned out surprisingly dry with some glimpses of sunlight.
The same website that recommended the Museum of London Docklands which I wrote about
here also recommended the
Princess Diana Memorial Playground, in Kensington Park beside the newly renovated Palace, as a place kids in London can enjoy for free.
We knew where the palace was so I thought finding the playground would be easy. Hahaha... Not quite so.

We were so happy to see this directional sign. |
We were so familiar with the area that we took the High Street Kensington Tube stop without reading the directions further. To readers who plan to go to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground, it's actually closer to the Bayswater side of the park, so if you are taking the tube, take Queensway on the Central Line instead.

This station felt like home.
It used to be the tube stop we liked to use the most, then we'd walk home or catch a bus on Kensington High Street, when we stayed with my aunt at their flat beside the Royal Albert Hall. |

This is the first thing you see, then a snack bar with the playground behind it. |

Sofia playing with the wagon at the smaller kids' play area. |

The rocking horse is always a hit. |

Hail forecast = Fif + Mom wearing booties in the sand box. |
|
The highlight of this playground was the pirate ship that kids could play in. |
|
It looks like an ominous day to be out at sea! |
|
Navigating the narrow rope bridge. |
|
The playground is very busy on weekends. It reminded me of Brazil, with less beautiful moms and kids, save for us. Hahaha. Feeling much. |
|
Jumping! |
|
Smiling for mom... |
|
back to running! |
|
Fif wanted to explore every nook and cranny. |
|
The musical area.
Stomp on it and each has a corresponding note. |
|
This was also something similar. |
|
...Coloring Coloraw El Kwento Kabaw. |
Fif went back several times during our month in London to picnic with her gammy.
|
Kensington Park brings back so many memories. |
We used to picnic at Kensington Park with chicken wings and the yummy pasta salad with peanut butter or the potato salad with raw onions (acquired taste!). I also remember the first time I prepared Pecan Tart from scratch (without using a mxer!) was when Jacob was a newborn 15 years ago???!!! and we went for a picnic here. Those were good times.
All the pictures in this post was taken with the camera of my Nokia 700.
