P365 TE Day 317

Souvenir Shopping at Bến Thành Market

Travel Bite: If you want to buy local souvenirs from Vietnam, such as lacquerware, beaded bags and sandals, then Bến Thành Market is the place to go. Just make sure you haggle because the asking price is 5-10x what you can get it for. Even the taxis around the area will rip you off with an astronomical asking price, or a rigged meter that will rack up your bill so much faster than what's normal.

Bonus Travel Bite: The reputable taxi companies are Mai Linh and Vinasun. For export over runs shopping, you won't find anything at Bến Thành Market, you should go to Saigon Square instead.

You can read my post on Bến Thành Market here and Saigon Square here.
